In her most recent book, Wanderers: A History of Women Walking, Kerri Andrews provides intimate and incisive portraits of some of the women who have, over the past 300 years, found walking essential to their sense of themselves as women, writers and people, despite social restrictions, assumptions about what women could do, and a failure to value women’s accounts of their walking.
